Please note that Community Ed, Contract Ed, and Summer Academy students are not matriculated so they do not qualify to purchase academically priced software. Most academic versions of the software titles are not eligible for upgrades. Software Information

The Bookstore stocks software from manufacturers like Adobe, Corel, FileMaker, Intuit, Microsoft, Sony, and Sibelius. Academically priced software costs as little as one tenth of the nonacademic retail price, and there is usually no difference in the functionality of the software. Any currently enrolled college student may buy most academically priced software. Faculty and classified staff members also qualify to buy most titles.

Please note that Cabrillo Extention, Community Ed, Contract Ed, and Summer Academy students are not matriculated. Consequently, they do not qualify to purchase academically priced software.

Academically priced software almost always has the same version number as the current commercial version, however most academically priced software should not be used for commercial purposes. Some manufacturers omit content such as stock photography and clip art from their academically priced software. Certain manufacturers do not permit upgrading of their academically priced software. While it is rare for academically priced software products to have reduced functionality compared to the commercial product, a small number of manufacturers alter the software so that output is watermarked, but the functionality is not restricted (AutoCAD and ArchiCAD use this technique). Some may also limit the file formats that may be imported or exported. Check with the software publisher for details.

For each student purchase, the Bookstore will need to photocopy either (1) a registration receipt plus an acceptable photo identification (such as a driver's license) or (2) a current student ID card. For faculty and staff we must photocopy an acceptable photo ID along with documentation of current employment.

For items to be owned by Cabrillo College or other institutions, please ask for our Institutional Purchase form. A purchase order may be required for payment.

Only defective software may be returned, and exchanged for the same item. Some manufacturers require that even defective software be returned directly to them, not to the Bookstore. Special orders cannot be refunded even if they have not yet arrived, so please resolve any questions before placing an order.
